Under general supervision, performs full-performance accounting support duties. The incumbent is responsible for performing moderately complex posting, encumbering of funds, and examining records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations. Performs related work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the full-performance level of paraprofessional accounting. Responsibilities may include training and reviewing work of subordinate staff.

Example of Work
-Classifies/codes a variety of transactions which may require considerable knowledge.
-Reviews accounts, ledgers, claims, invoices, purchase orders, receipts, or similar materials for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laws and regulations.
-Prepares bank deposits and/or checks.
-Makes correcting and/or adjusting entries on ledger.
-Examines accounting records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations; verifies calculations and ensures accuracy and validity of transactions.
-Prepares and illustrates statements and reports which reflect the relationships among accounts and which require occasional searching and analysis.
-Performs moderately complex posting, encumbering of funds, and balancing receipts of others.
-Maintains accounting records; gathers data and prepares moderate to complex financial statements and reports from records maintained.
-May assist the supervisor in preparing the budget by compiling data, preparing summaries and requests, and developing cost projections.
-May train and review work of clerical staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Knowledge of accounting laws and regulations of bureau/agency.
-Knowledge of basic mathematical computations.
-Knowledge of an automated computer accounting system.
-Skill in the use of a calculator.
-Skill in the use of office equipment such as a copier, fax machine, and personal computer.
-Ability to detect and correct errors in arithmetic or to refer to proper sources for correction.
-Ability to gather and compile data for use in financial reports.
-Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
-Ability to train and review the work of others.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.

Experience: Three years of full time or equivalent part time paid bookkeeping, accounting or related experience.

Substitution: Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an regionally accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience;
OR
Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula.

The incumbent is responsible for posting complex journal entries that require the use of specialized accounting procedures, assisting the supervisor in preparing agency budgets, and examining records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations. Performs related work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is advanced level paraprofessional accounting work. Job duties include performing complex balancing and reconciling of multiple accounts. Employees in this class are responsible for accuracy of accounts for others and require little supervision. Responsibilities may also include being a lead worker.

Example of Work

-Classifies/codes a variety of transactions which may require considerable knowledge.
-Transfers funds and balances multiple accounts such as hospital billing.
-Examines accounting records to assure adherence to accounting laws and regulations; verifies calculations and ensures accuracy and validity of transactions.
-Prepares and illustrates specialized statements and reports which reflect the relationships among accounts and which require steady searching and analysis.
-Makes complex journal entries and other transactions which require use of specialized accounting procedures.
-Maintains accounting records; gathers data and prepares complex financial statements and reports from records maintained.

-Contacts associates, administrators, and general public in order to obtain information, discuss changes in documents, or resolve problems with more complex accounts.

The Programmer Analyst 3 will be responsible for coding, maintaining, and supporting CPRB's pension administration system. All applications are primarily in VB .Net, C#, and XML. The programmer is expected to work in Visual Studio IDE to address bugs in code and batch processing. The programmer must have at least 2 years working experience coding in VB .Net and will become a key player in the systems refactoring effort.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

-Codes, tests, and debugs Inhouse Applications
-Develops specialized knowledge of the in-house custom pension administration application and the framework applications
-Accountable for and maintains existing software applications.

Related duties assigned as required.

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field including but not limited to business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering.
OR
An Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or business school in computer science or related field including but not limited to business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering and eighteen months of full-time or equivalent part-time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or data base languages.

As a Lead Programmer duties will include working with junior developers to QA and optimize development deliverables. The programmer must have at least 4 years working experience coding in VB .Net and C# and will become a key player in the systems refactoring effort.

-Clairfies system to the end users
-Develops specialized knowledge of the in-house custom pension administration application and the framework applications
-Accountable for and maintains existing software applications
-Server Management is a plus

  • Retirement Advisor, Senior

Under administrative direction, reviews and approves benefit estimates prepared by subordinates; prepares monthly retirement agendas and verifies accuracy; incumbent prepares "walk-in" requests for benefit estimates for members. Serves as lead worker in overseeing the work assignments of Retirement Advisors and other staff. Responds to requests for information via written correspondence and telephone. Performs related work as required.

Example of Work
Reviews and approves calculated benefit and retirement profiles prepared by advisors under immediate supervision.
Prepares and verifies monthly retirement agenda.
Calculates total contributions and annuity amounts for members who request retirement profiles in person.
Plans, organizes, assigns, and checks work of retirement advisors under immediate supervision.
Trains new employees in proper work methods and procedures.

Knowledge of program policies, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of office methods, practices and procedures.

Training: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard four-year high school.

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in general clerical work, one year of which must have included benefit estimation related experience.

Substitution: Successful completion of study in an accredited college or university, or related resident business or vocational school training may be substituted for the required general experience on a year-for-year basis.
